Expanding the Alert Program®’s Reach for Today’s Workplace
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., [August 4, 2026] — The company behind the Alert Program®, TherapyWorks, Inc., has named Jennie Len Largent owner and CEO as co-founders Sherry Shellenberger and MarySue Williams (shown above), occupational therapists of 46 years, retire after sharing their self-regulation expertise with professionals, families, and communities worldwide.
This transition marks an exciting new chapter for the Alert Program® and highlights the opportunity for more people to understand the benefits of body-first regulation. For decades, Shellenberger and Williams have helped people of all ages build practical, evidence-based self-regulation skills in schools, clinics, homes, workplace and diverse settings in communities. Under Largent’s leadership, those same principles will be applied more broadly to support adults, teams, workplace learning, and system-wide implementation in organizations.

“By learning to observe and support the body first, people are better able to think clearly, communicate well, and perform at their best.”

That relevance is personal for Largent. With a background in finance and business consulting, Largent was no stranger to overstressed workdays. When she felt too mentally scattered to focus, she often stepped outside for a walk. Through the Alert Program®, she learned that a brisk, energetic walk could be more effective because the type of movement matters. And she learned there was a practical, evidence-based explanation for why that type of movement helped shift her alert level and reset her nervous system, so she could return to work more focused and balanced, making clear thinking possible.
“That realization changed the way I understand stress, clarity, and performance,” said Jennie. “I had already built regulation practices into my daily routines, but the Alert Program® helped me understand why they worked and how to choose effective strategies as needs change. By learning to observe and support the body first, people are better able to think clearly, communicate well, and perform at their best.”
“With Jennie’s mission aligning so well with our mission, we are confident in passing the baton to her. We are excited with how well she understands the heart and science of our life’s work,” said Shellenberger. “She will help more people recognize the value of self-regulation in all settings, especially where focus, resilience, communication, and sustained performance matter.” Williams added, “We could not be more pleased to have Jennie lead the Alert Program® into this next chapter since her outstanding skill set, expertise, experience, and passion will help countless more, especially those in today’s workplace.”
Under Largent’s leadership, the Alert Program® will continue serving those who have long relied on it while extending its body-first self-regulation tools into more workplaces. Grounded in decades of occupational therapy knowledge, the program offers practical strategies that can be used every day. Jennie is adding her experience in training and change management to help leaders and organizations put these strategies into action in ways that last.
Advocates of the Alert Program® community who have completed an online course have asked for a way to share what they learned with others. In response, Jennie Len and the TherapyWorks team are now offering course gift certificates. Purchasing one is a meaningful way to support the legacy Sherry and MarySue built while sharing practical regulation skills with someone who could benefit. You can give a course to one person or sponsor a group by selecting the number of participants you would like to cover.
What a beautiful way to spread the value of the system, honor the legacy Sherry and MarySue’s work, and literally give the gift of self-regulation. Think about what a difference it could make to a school or clinic to have a few newly trained in the Alert System®…
